Where is a good place to get a injector pump rebuilt? About what should it cost? There are no places close around where I live so I will have to ship it to whoever does it.

One place to check- Mike @ Diesel Specialties in MN. 1-800-966-2198. Did an accurate diagnosis over the phone, fixed it for what he said it would be.

We have a 2440 that I removed the ball & spring from a few years ago because of this problem. The fuel filter will catch the junk when it comes back through the system.I guess it must be just a temp. fix though according to jd.The engine lopes alittle sometimes.I guess we should get our pump rebuilt also.Wehave some burnt valves too,I think. The old tractor has 9100 hrs. It Probably needs a lot.Iam not a pro-still learning.Just trying to help alittle.I have gotten lots of good info.from this site just from reading others Q&A.Thanks

If you're going to ship it, there's places all over the country. Most are charging aroun $300 plus part's cost. You've got a Stanadyne DB type pump. Just do a search for "diesel injection pump" and "stanadyne"
In regard to cleaning out the debris - as has been mentioned - it is only a temporary fix. Once the plastic has come apart inside the pump, there will be metal parts hammering agaisnt each other and eventually it will destroy the pump if you keep running it. Once that happens, many pump shops won't even give you core-credit for your pump.

Did you take the fitting out of the pump after you took the return line loose from the pump? That is where the restriction occurs. If that fitting with the ball in it is stopped up with that govenor coupling material you wont have any power after the pressure builds in the pump.Does it run fine with the cover off? If so,the restriction is the problem.

Yes it ran fine untill some more of the black plastic stopped it up again.Even before I took off the fitting once the engine would would quit because of the restriction if you restarted it it would run good until it got restricted again. If you just take out the ball and let the pieces go back into the tank, the chewed up plastic won't effect the injector pump?

It will eventually destroy the pump if you run it long that way.
