Your recent post had a lot of good info regarding draglines. Very interesting.

I know someone who is trying to build a large scale model of a Northwest 75 (I think) dragline, and he is looking for something with dimensions to reference for his work. Any ideas where to point him toward?

Thanks

I almost forgot this site. I don't know how much good it'll do your buddy but there are links to alot of good sites when it comes to any kind of heavy equipment. Add the links that are on all the linked sites and so on and so on, and he'll probably wind up with more info than he can handle before he stops looking. I've spent hours just surfing link to link and have seen alot of interesting stuff. It may or may not do him anygood for the model but it'll sure be interesting.

Your gonna laugh but the best place to find what he's looking for is probably gonna be Ebay. I say this because about the only thing I know of that's gonna have any dimensions or other specs, and is gonna be available nowdays, would be the old sales brochures. We've got manuals for alot of the more common models that were used around here but all their basically just parts and sometimes basic maintenance. Beyond doing something like that and making an educated guess with the various measurements not listed having an actual machine would be the only way to go and really do it right. You can also tell him to check out the HCEA site and possibly post on there. There are alot of guys on that sight that are into the old cranes as a hobby and one of them might have the model he's doing and be able to get the actual dimensions for him. He might also be able to find some equipment salvage yards that have machines on the yard and get the dimensions for himself that way. He might get lucky and get someone that would do it for him at one of the places but you never can tell when making a request like that. Unfortunately those are about the only ways I know of to get the measurements he needs. Tell him I said good luck and when he does get it built to post a pic, I would love to see it. Wayne
