Got an older JCB 1400b and runs great but does't want to move forward and backwards. If you rev the engine it will back up slowly but in forward it doesn't want to move. I've called a local dealer service dept. and they said there is two diff. tranny's. If its the JCB tranny it takes the special oil. I drained a couple ounces and the oil thats in it looks like regular oil. Anybody got any info????? Does anyone know where I check the pressure in the tranny??

If your shuttle box has a small oil pan bolted to the bottom its a Borg Warner, check the oil level, its checked with the engine running on low idle,if the oil is ok stop the engine and get a second person in the seat,go under the machine and look the left side of the shuttle, get the other person to move the forward/reverse lever back and forth, you will see it moving the F/R valve on the side of the shuttle,in the centre of the valve is a bolt with a locknut, there should be .010" clearance between the head of the bolt and the lever that pushes it,if not loosen the lock and adjust it so there is,that adjustment controls the clutch disconnect valve,if there is not enough clearance it allows the oil to escape and not engage the clutch, the valve is spring loaded to pop back out against its stop so check to see that it does, there is no other adjustment that can be done on that shuttle in situ, there is a pick up strainer inside the little oil pan but no external filter, the oil (fluid) that is used here in the UK is the red ATF,JCB packet it under there own lable.
Good luck
AJ
