Am trying to ID an old ford backhoe. unable to see model code, however production code is 2A21b, which makes it a '72 model, serial # is C326868 with an asterick on both sides. This is a 3 cylinder diesel with 6/4 manual reversing transmission. The backhoe has a decal on it reading HD 15 in big letters. I need to haul this hoe about 20 miles to my house, and was really wanting ID so I could get an appr. weight of the unit. Thanks D Sellers

My little Ford hoe weighs around 7,280 lbs. But, mine is older - 1963 4000 Industrial with a four-cylinder 172 c.i. engine, and a Sherman aux. trans.

The 1963 tractor itself weighs - 3800 lbs.

Front loader model # 724 weighs 1,020 lbs.

Rear backhoe model # 723 weighs 2000 lbs. for 10 foot depth
model, 2,190 lbs. for 12 foot depth model, or 2,360 lbs. for 14 foot depth model.

So, all together the old-style Ford 4000 loader/hoe weighs 6,820 lbs. to 7,280 lbs.

Never heard of a HD 15...I wonder if it's a 515 or a 545..At any rate , most of the 3 cylinder , transmission straddlers are in the neighborhood of 14,000 lbs
