After completly rebuilding the steering system on both sides of this machine I have moved the presure plate adjustment to match the book setting of 2.062 +/- 1/32 and made sure of the right number of steels and fibers My question is that while everything is set to what seems to be what the book says .
There is alot of lost travel behind the clutch bearing I have put the bearing face some where
between 3/32 and 1/8 is this normal?

I was just looking at the amount of travel behind the throw out bearing casting and the back of the case after adjusting the bearing to within 1/8"

I'm not 100% sure I understand what your saying , but if you disassembled the steering clutch and re-assembled, did you install a fiber disk in the drum, then a steel plate and THEN install the center hub with the snap ring on it ??? If you installed the center hub first, then installed the discs and plates, then it will throw off the pressure plate fingers and will never release after installation.

Yes, that was one of the things I looked at first Also looked at brake band itself to see where it was set in relation to the hub ?

Did you get the setscrew in the right place? There's a groove in the shaft just for that setscrew...
