I recently rebuilt a Case 1845 skidsteer with a 188 diesel. The stock dipstick was remarked with a higher oil level, about two quarts, by the previous owner. This was done by scratching and marking the dipstick. I checked the parts book and all of the Case 188 engines, Diesel and Gas, had a part # A 136379 for the engine dipstick. I have the deep oil pan, although this doesnot matter insofar as the dipstick goes. This engine was leaking oil bad, had a bad groove in the crank pulley. What I want to know is, was there a tech bulletin from Case that came out to remark the oil level higher on the dipstick? Or- as I suspect, the previous owner remarked the dipstick on his own because this engine was leaking and passing oil at a high rate. I have about 3 hours on the engine and I initially filled the oil to the higher mark. Maybe I have too much oil in this engine? Thanks in advance for all who reply.

I think i would have filled the motor with the amount the book says then check the dip stick.
