Hello... I hope that I am just being stupid but I can't get our new Casr 580 CK to start. Its an early 80's model. When we bought it - it just started right up. I've only had it for a few days but I have yet to get it running.. It makes noise but doesn't start - I tried to jump it... hooked it up to a battery charger.. neither worked.. it is a deisel - do I need to heat it up or something? ANy help is appreciated.

I have a 580K. When you say won't start, will not crank or cranks and doesnt fire? Mine wouldnt crank one day. Got looking and some wires were ripped out under the cab. Turn to start, one relay in the console would click. At starter , I jumped from battery to solenoid contact, start right up. Got a schematic on it and gave up. It is a nightmare of safety switches and multiple relays in the starting circuit. I wired in a seperate starter switch that comes off the main ignition switch in run position. Crank but won't start. Check the electric shut off on the injector pump and make sure you hear the click when the ignition switch is turned to run. If no click, no open, no fuel to injector pump. Have been told that the needle on the shut off can get buildup on it and has to be cleaned to get fuel pass it. Never had that problem. Make sure shuttle and transmission is in netural if you go playing at the solenoid. Bob Ohio

we had the same problem when we got our 580d the battery was dead but the connection at the starter was corroded so jumpers wouldnt help till it was cleaned and tightened. check all connections first..might not be your problem but it's a cheap start
