TD6 questions from newbie

Hi All. I usually frequent the Farmall forum cause I have an A and IA, BUT came here cause I spotted a TD6 I might just try to go get. TDBK 38221---'55 model. Has a frame on front that looks like most heavy duty loaders but has a dozer blade with hydraulic angle ram on the blade as well as F/B tilt ram. Three levers. In back it has a ripper bar with two rippers and that is also three way, second set of three handles. Has a CARCO winch on rear with a load of 1/2" cable. Hydraulic pump is on front where hand crank would be. So- the newbie questions- who made the dozer and ripper setup? what do the B and K mean? is the hyd. pump location correct? what sort of value does it have? I only saw one listed here in Oregon-restored with no attachments at $4k. By the way, tin is there but a couple of dents and no rust, tracks show very little wear and rams are shiny chrome, ugly yellow over spray paint, nothing missing that I can see, hyd valve assy's leaky as is pump. Thanks for any help figuring this out.

Thanks, good info so far, I know something about the early MD and the changeover stuff probably is why it sits 'all alone'. Most folks today don't have a clue when they look at one. The winch did have the cast name but I can't snoop real close (unless I buy it). My wife would think I went over the edge, but she does now anyway....Any $ guesses if it's not stuck or busted inside???? Oh-the blade is a commercial grade one and attatches with large pins and clips and the 3 way rams are not add on.

Hi Roger - I have a TD-6 sitting on the drive that I bought last fall. Same ugly yellow paint on everything. Great tin. Ran when it came here but that did not last long....you know the story.
Seat cushions like new. No manuals. Bucyrus Erie bullgrader on front with real good cylinders and really no leaks anywhere on the machine. Paid $1,500 and I had to go get it, of course.
I think they are more common where you live. At least I saw a lot of ads for them on the west coast. HTH-Dave

I don't know too much about IH dozers, but I have had to learn a little bit because some of my friend have them.
I don't know what the BK stands for, but the next series of TD-6, which started in '56 I think, had TD61 for the serial number prefix instead of TDBK. The blade and rippers might have a tag on them saying who made them, or their name might be cast into some of the parts. The most common one around here was Bucyrus-Erie, but there were several others. The one that you are looking at sounds like it might be a Drott loader that someone put a homemade blade on.
