I have what I believe to be a 3c mark III build 5. This has the Powertrain assembley, shuttle transmission, leyland engine, dry hydraulic brakes. I would like some clarification if someone knows. My manual lists "Mobil Delvac 1310" for the engine, (if running under 1 degree celcus) and the same oil for the shuttle transmission. Mobil no longer lists this oil, it would appear to be just a straight 10w diesel oil. Can someone confirm if this is what I would run. I no longer have a JCB dealer within 100 miles and the place that I did deal sold me a JCB "Special" Hydraulic 46 that they said they run in everything. But seeing that the manual list 1310 for the shuttle, JCB "special" for the hydraulics, and 550 brake fluid for the brakes, I have trouble believing them.

JCB have always badged and numbered the oil they sell, any good quality 15/40 diesel engine is ok for that engine,10w is way too light unless you are at the North Pole, take the cap from the brake reservoir and it should be moulded on it the type of fluid to use, here in the UK all machinery use hydraulic fluid in the brakes,if it says use mineral oil it means hydraulic fluid the same as that goes in the hyd tank.this was done to stop fluids been mixed and causing failures, standard hydraulic oil is what is normally used here even though JCB oil is colured different, its just a ploy to get you to buy form the dealer.
