Has anyone ever replaced steering clutches on a cat d5 93J? if so, what kind of a job am i looking at? or going rate to have replaced? thanks guys..

Do you have oil or dry clutches. the clutches are the same as a 955 K/L if they are oil clutch. I usually get $1000.00 labor. That includes replacing the seals on the Final drive pinions.

Thanks for the response Bob,I am not sure yet..I ran into one of the deals you can refuse...the dozer runs really good,new UC however no steering at all..is that $1000 for each side or for both?

Hayman, I think there are square covers on the back to have a look inside. Have someone release the clutches while you watch the yokes are moving before pulling clutches. Make sure the control side is working, if it is the plates are likely rusted together.
