I've got a 444 with an Onan CCK. Engine runs, but needs a carb. Looks like I have to pull the intake manifold to remove the carb as it bolts on from underneath. Can any one confirm this? What a set up. Also it leaks oil by the quart. Any ideas on what it takes to reseal these. Are their any mail order parts sources besides Cummins? Otherwise are their any salvage yards for these machines - I'd like to get a few oter parts for it. Thanks!

Some years ago I had an old Onan 3500 Army surplus gen with an Onan CCK engine. You should check with Army surplus dealers/suppliers and I think you will find all the parts you will need for CCK engines.

Thanks for your reply - I would like to pull the manifold but am afraid the bolts holding it to the block will snap, then I'll have a mess with the broken studs. Do you know is this is the case? Thanks.

I've never had any luck finding parts for the Onans anywhere except through a dealer. They always seem to do something odd to make their parts, to make them unlike everyone elses, which means they can charge you whatever they want. I worked on an old CCK several years back and I have to say they were real proud of the parts back then so I can only imagine what they want for them now. As for the carb removal it's a pain in the rear to do it but if your careful and have enough patience you can get it off without pulling the intake. Thing is a new set of intake gaskets won't be but maybe $10 or so, so it's well worth the price of the gaskets to make the job easy.
