I just swapped out the track chains and sprockets on this 450 crawler, (sn 3064230). The old sprockets are in good condition, I should have kept them. The chain links are wearing down. Some were cracked, alot of rocks to roll over. I welded some 2 years ago. the welded ones held up great, But I broke a link 2 weeks ago and replaced all but the shoes. I liked my shoes.
The pins in the links are tight, although there is some snakiness. The bushings are worn some but servicable. I haven't lost a track, (off of the sprocket). These chains will fit CASE models 310, 350, 350B and 450 (A). These i can seperate, (cutting torch).
The sprockets will fit the above and 450 C, IF the are a 52" pitch (that what the book calls it). This is the measurement from sprocket center to sprocket center taken at the teeth. The older machines had a 50" "pitch". These items are in So Cal. 92586. They will be on ebay soon (I'd rather not), unless they go here or on the other forum....
The sprockets, (27 teeth), should go as a set but I will seperate them.

You all are the first to hear about it.

Who told you those tracks fit 310,350 and straight 450?? They are idiots. Your serial number if that is the machine they came off of is a 6 inch pitch and the others are 5 7/8 inch pitch. All 450s AFTER serial number 3050800 are 6 inch pitch. Before that serial number they are 5 7/8 with 1/2 bolt holes and will work on 350 machines that have the spocket for 1 3/4 bushings .310,350 early 350B all have 1 1/2 inch bushing.Spockets will not fit early machine either 27 tooth after serial number 3050800 will only work on 450A and 450B 450C takes a 25 tooth spocket .

CH, Thankyou for your reply, thankyou that it was full of information. In answer to your questions, as to 'who' told me?
This is a compilation of info I recieved over the internet as well as sources offline. again, a compiliation.

I do (now) remember reading that some of the eariler machines had a 5 7/8" link pitch.

You posted your information as it is 'absolute'.
And sounds like it is accurate. Case in point,
"....the machine they came off of...." This is the machine they came off of, What if, over the last 30-40 years this machine (or others), recieved a different battery box w/a different SN? Or different parts were 'swapped' out over time? What if, some if these CASE crawlers, and many others recieved 'aftermarket' parts, that are designed to fit mulitple applications, and don't match (exactly) what the manufactures specification call for? Is your info still valid? What is the 'standard' for your information? the factory specs? A good place to start.

Just some other thoughts...

I do appreicate your help in identification of these items. I know first hand the frusteration of recieving the wrong parts...FROM THE DEALER who is suppose to know what they are doing. It's a good thing to work together. I can take the criteria...(just can't spell it) as I do not want to inconvience anyone....thanks again...sl
