CAT D4D 4S Blade repair question triunion

I would like to fix the slop in my dozer blade. The triunions are very worn. Problem is, everything is welded to the blade. My parts book shows a part number for the triunion $111 and a part number for the whole assembly with brakets $400. My question is, would a welding shop (or maybe CAT dealer) be able to cut the old triunion out without butchering the brackets and weld in replacements? Anyone done this or had it done?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Maybe I jumped to quick on that one. After reading post again I see you are referring to the trunnions for the lift cylinders (I think).... I was referring to the trunnions and bearings mounted to the sides of the roller frames and push arms. For the blade mounted trunnions I would go with the assemblies replacement. There are also the blade brace trunnion balls and sockets to deal with. The sockets are bolt ons for the D4D as I recall. I have weld built up and ground balls to fit where they are part of the brace and bought replacement (aftermarket) units for the thread adjusted ends. (boy are they fun to take apart)

Thanks for the note. I was refering to lift cylinders. The assemblies are welded on there pretty good, probably have to cut off with a plasma torch? Thanks again!
Tom

Yes, the trunions (balls) can be cut out and replaced. I've done a couple sets myself.
The trunions, bearings, bolts and square nuts are available after market also. Try www.Regal.com or www.heavyquip.com

Thanks for the info. Do you recall how exactly you did it? Did you cut the shaft on both sides between the brackets and fit the new piece to the shaft stubs and weld them in place? Thanks again,
Tom
