I was wondering whether anyone has an idea as to why the above dozer is over heating after about 1.5 hours of work?. The radiator is clean, the water pump is running well, the cooling fan is new, the engine was opened to check whether the head gasket was cracked and despite it being fine it was replaced along with all the rubber parts there..the mechanic is at a loss. I would really appreciate if anyone has an idea where we should look for the problem. Thank you

Thank you all for your replies.
Yes Old Magnet, coolant is getting lost but I am not sure whether it is due to the overheating and pressure going out of the radiator cap or due to something else. Thank you

Also need to know what model you have (direct drive or powershift). Yes, the torque converter could be the source of heat. Do you see bubbles coming up when you remove the radiator cap when running. Either getting hot enough to boil the water or you have compression/combustion gases leaking into cooling system. If the head gasket and head checked out you may have a corrosion pin hole in one of the precombustion chambers or cylinder liner.

It is direct drive not a powershift. I will check the bubble thing with the mechanic and post it. Thanks

While you have the mechanics attention inquire if you had the .002 - .005 cylinder liner projection required to seal the head gasket and whether the combustion chambers were disturbed.

I have seen everything form NO het regulator to worn pulleys Onece I worked on a machine with a reversable fan that the operator decided to reverse 2 of the blades to keep the radiator clean! If any of the pullys is worn enough to let the fan belt run on the bottom of the grove it will slow the fan down. a missing thermostat will let the coolant circulate to fast to give up heat.

Are you losing coolant?
