Lift Cyl. Trunion

Has anyone ever built up and turned a lift cyl trunion? Would this be possible. The part I'm refering to is where the lift cyl attaches to the front cap on a 450 Case dozer. I've not removed it, but it looks like it goes inside the race trunion and is held in place by a bolt and a ball that rides in a grove. Thought I'd ask before I took it off. Thanks

Couple of questions to make sure I understand what your talking about. One What is the hole diameter that needs repair? Two...Is the bore in the trunion a straight bore or is it radiused for the ball you mentioned to ride in? Three...Does any part of the bore go all the way through the trunion or is it a blind hole on both sides? If what needs fixing is a straight bore and it goes all the way through the trunuion then it shouldn't be a problem to fix, on the machine, with a portable line boring setup since you can get to both sides to set up. If the holes are blind they could be done with a portable boring machine like they used to use to bore engine blocks, and I have made a jig for our setup and done some smaller blind holes over the years. Either way a large size hole can be a limiting factor. Finally if the bores have some type of radiused area for the brearing to ride and that part is damaged it would be really difficult to machine a radius with any of the portable machines I know of and be anywhere even close to accurate. If you can get it off and get it to a machine shop though I see no reason someone with the right equipment couldn't repair it by either welding and machining back or if wall thickness and design permits boring oversize and sleeving back to standard. The part that connects to the lift cyl will come off. This is the part I would like to possibly repair. The female part, the manual calls this a race, is welded and I would leave it alone. I might not be able to take out all the slack, but could get alot of it. It is radiused for the ball to ride in. This would be the most difficult part to cut. Thanks for your interest.
