I have an old 8K on the farm that has a few problems with heat on warm summer days. Well the muffler is starting to rust out and they want just about a 1000 bucks for a new one..... I was just wondering if i could stick a piece of pipe in there and it wouldn't effect preformance and perhaps get rid of alittle extra heat??

We replaced those before on the later style, the one that lays flat, they were expensive then, '93 radiator cores and other parts. Did yout try Regal, the afermarket supplier, might be considerably less from them.

The older, slower turning, naturally aspirated cats have quite the bark and sound when under a load, straight pipe was fine for them, have no idea with a turbo involved.

I have had a straight pipe on my D7 17A for years. I don't even know if it is supposed to have a muffler. It would not sound right if it was muffled down.

Why not. I run straight on my HD21a. Know the story on prices, my elbow rusted out and bought a length of 6in exhaust. Going to do some cutting and weld one up. Heard the price of stack and elbow(one piece) about $500. Bob Ohio
