I have a 550C dozer that works fine when it is cold. When the transmission gets warmed up it will not engage the reverse clutches in any range but works fine in the forward speeds. I have a technical manual and it only addresses problems that occur in both the forward and reverse of any range.

Its a deere 550? -- There never was a 550C ...its a 550 that has a "C" in the serial number... More than likely the reverse clutch pack is leaking. It could be from the clutch pack seals themself or from the manifold and shaft seals that supply oil to it... But most likely this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you have the manual, read about transmission rebuilding as well as steering clutch rebuilding as the two generally go hand in hand. The transmission fails and contaminates the steering clutches or vice versa... Lots of time...lots and lots of money in parts..ridiculous amounts of money if you have to have someone else do the work..
