Rail link height is measured from the back side of the grouser shoe and would be 4.00 in. high if it is the original 6.75 in pitch chain or 4.06 in. high if using the later D5 rails with the 6.91 pitch.

Correct, when checking you need to measure over at least four links and divide the distance by the number of links measured. Chain needs to be stretched to get accurate measurement, usually accomplished by sticking a pin in the sprocket mesh.
Maximum allowable wear is usually about 1/8 in. per link.

Can you change sproket teeth to make a differnt pitch chain work?

If everything is wore out the part you should put money into would be the tracks?
Thanks for the info trying to get her going again.

I don't believe you can get the 6.75 in pitch original chain any more. Most get converted to the 6.9 in pitch used on the D5 which requires a sprocket change or sprocket ring change. Can also get a segmented sprocket ring.
Undercarriage should be changed all at one time otherwise the mismatching of worn parts makes short life of any new components.

Can't answer you on that one. Need to inquire at a track service shop. The D6C used the 8 in. pitch chain and has a much higher height at 4.78 in new vs about 4.00. You would need to know other dimensions for rollers, idlers and carriers and whether a sprocket or sprocket rim will fit.
