I just got myself an old track press. It is made By Rogers Hydraulics , model 9D with a model BM40A hyd pump. It is not a small item as it is 14 ft long, on wheels, and powered by a 4 cylinder Waukesha engine. Does anyone have any idea were I might find some manuals for it?

I use a twelve ton bottle jack get my crawler up in the air and crib it with six by six lumber to keep it up there. My welder guy when we re did the track on my machine he showed me the master pin on my old track, it had a raised dimple on it and the new track master pin had a dimple in the middle of it. We used a torch and cut the chains to get the old track off and then when we put the new master pin in the new tracks we drove it in with a sledgehammer and two spot welds to hold it in place as a precautionary measure. My welder/mechanic has sure been teaching me a lot lately. I am going to have to adjust my clutches soon I THINK as the machine ever so slightly drifts to the left when i walk it. I'll bring Leo back in and get alesson in clutches!!

I guess a track press machine is really only good for a fella who would rebuild or repair undercarriages a whole lot eh?

The track press is a hydraulic piston/ram system used to press the track pins in/out. It creates a SERIOUS amount of pressure in a small area. As I recall these things create on the order of 150 or 200 tons of pressure.

I've got a 20 ton bottle jack that can pick up the whole back of my 450. I use it when I need to jack up a side to reset the track.

Suppossedly you can use a sledge hammer and a big punch to drive the pins, but mine are so rusty I doubt it would work. The master pin is suppossed to be easier to drive, but to save me I can't locate it on my machine. The master pin has a machined ring or something to distinguish it from the others.

Fortunately my tracks are so worn and streched that I can use a come-along to pull back the idler and then use a couple of pry-bars, chains etc to put the track back in place. Then again having worn tracks means that they come off easier too.

The only place i know would be WTC 1 800 248 8405 I have one Rogars abd three OTCs and they did get me a copy for mine. I don"t remeber my Model number without going out in the shop and looking but it is 150ton,twin ram with a 10 horse electric motor.
