Good morn.to all Can any of you guys tell me about things to look for (outside of the normal things like rails, rollers, Pads and idlers)things that might be model related? Im looking to buy a unit that is close to home for cleaning fence rows, sides of the creek Also what would be a fair Price for a early 80s
with 50% U/C and fair paint joy stick controls
and not all the glass thanks

One other thing to look for; See if there's a vibration when you're running the hydraulic functions..Pump drive loose or broke..

I have a 690B which I do some clearing with. I think it is a well designed, relatively simple machine. After it warms up, I would see if it can easily lift the front of the tracks, check that it tracks straight, that hi and low range work, check the amount of wear in the table, check that the swing brake is working. Check to make sure the propel brakes stop and hold the machine properly. Check for leaks underneath while it is running. You want to make sure that it climbs and turns well after hydraulics are warmed up, and that it has good digging and lifting power. Other than that, just general condition checks. I see prices from 10,000 to 25,000 depending on condition, hours, and accessories.
