Would a TD9 be older than a T340, ie, before 1959? TIA. Will be looking at one with a new engine, 65& UC, $9400. If it's a 560 engine, just guessing it is older. TIA

Thanks for the info. Contractor/owner thought it was a 1962-63. Has torque converter, powershift transmission. 2/3 of the UC left. Do you have a list of machine serial numbers? Been looking for two years for D4, 450C Case or Deere. BIL would be so thrilled if I switched colors! I just want an older machine- 30-40 yrs is ok, but with good UC and blade, preferably 6 way, but he says this might be easy to convert to at least a tilt.

If it's got a powershift transmission and torque converter, it has to be a TD9B or later model. TD9B's were made between between '63-'74. TD9B's came with straight 6 cylinder D282 IH diesels, producing 75hp. There's some folks with them over at the redpower site, I've got the loader version and really like it.

Thanks for the quick info. Gonna see it Monday, so the info is very timely. Looked at only one IH before this- Drott bucket, loader tracks, 560 engine- just never got all that excited about it. If what you say is true- wouldn't the engine be bigger than what was in the 560 IH? I always figured the farm tractor was around 50 hp, maybe less, remember when they came out. With 75 hp, wouldn't that be bigger than a Cat D4, same vintage?- I thought they were about 65 hp. Makes that $9400 price with new engine look even better. Been hoping to find something under 15 grand, 30-40 years old with a shuttle or reverser.

Remember you are talking engine horsepower here on the crawler. The 560 was a 60 horse power tractor. There are variations in those D-282 enines. Remember the first 706 tractors had them as well. J.

Not familiar with the 560 IH. But the TD9-92 and TD9B (and 150 loader) came with the direct start D282 6 cylinder diesel (with glowplugs). The powershift models came without turbo and produced 75hp at 2200 rpm. The manual gearshift versions came with a D282 turbo version, which produced 71hp at 1800 rpm; them's the facts. At $9400 it should be in good shape with a good U/C, and preferably a ROPS too.

I always thought the 91 had the D350
and the 92's & B's used the 6 cyl D282s.
Hope this helps.
