Hi, ALL Been over on the 8n forum for a few years, and here on the JD side watching and getting advice on my FIL's MC. Now I've just bought a 2010C at a local auction, and hoping to get a few answers from the experts here. Im in the process of getting the Books for it..
1963 2010 Diesel crawler with 6 way hyd Dozer blade. S/N: 384XX

Has the L,H,N,R shift. What does JD call this? "power shift?"

Throttle in on the left of the panel, what's the one on the right side on the panel? seems to not do much. I thought was a reverser like the 1010, but seems not.

About How much does this thing weigh? We hauled it behind my chevy 2500..about 50 miles.

Probably weighs about 11K to 12K. I would think you might want to turn the tracks around, unless you do a lot in reverse.

So the lever on the Right selects 4 gear ranges?
If we try to move it it grinds gears..Maybe Clutch out of adjustment?
In pictured position it runs fine L,H,R.

It is supposed to grind unless you hold the clutch in and wait a while. The gears have no synchronizers and it is not meant to be shifted often, and never while moving. It is only meant as a range-change transmission. You would rarely have in anything other than #1 or #2. And maybe your clutch is out of adjustment, a bit oily, etc. But, many when new would grind a bit.

OK, thanks for the info. The Kid's been running it, Just got it last weekend so learning..
Maybe he's just not waiting long enough when he pushes the clutch down.
Previous owner is in his 70's, had heart attack 2 years ago, no longer allowed to play with his toys so had to sell it. I think it's been sitting for those 2 years.
Have the Owners manual and Parts manual on order, is there also a service manual?
Local JD Dealer says he can get almost anything i need as long as I have the JD part number, he has no way to look them up he says.
Thanks for the info..

Service manual is available from many sources - including a Deere dealer or a authorized reseller. Deere still holds the rights so copies have to be authorized (so I'm told).

2010 diesel crawler weighs 9600 lbs. without the dozer attached - and the dozer probably weighs another 2000 lbs.

2010 crawler trans. setup is usually the same as the later 450s use - a HL-R hydraulic clutch trans attached to a four-speed, collar shift range transmission.
