My "63"1010 Crawler water pump leaks out of the front seal. Any idea where to get one and about how much should they cost, I could take it apart and ship it and have it re built for about $150, they say they are short of cores, but this puts me out of service for a week. Must be some new ones out there?

1010 water pumps are tougher to rebuild than some other Deere pumps because the castings are so thin. If a guy isn't careful, he can easily break the housing when trying to press the bearing out (I've seen many break). That being said - if you're careful, and have a press, it's easy to repair. But, you might want to check with possible part's updates. The original 1010 setup has a seal that rides directly against the cast-iron impeller. So, it used to be necessary to install a new impeller along with the seal. The old impeller will just about always have the seal-face worn out. But - late 80s - Deere started using a different seal design that retrofits to most older pumps. It is a seal that seals against the bearing shaft and does not need a good impeller. So - if that is now avaialble - all you need is a bearing assembly, a lock clip, and a new seal. With care, it's a 15 minute job to rebuild the pump. But, if the bearing doesn't press easy - heat the housing first or the pump will crack like an egg-shell.

What makes your 1010 so valuable that you can't be without it for a couple of days???Go to a Deere dealer , they can rebuild your old pump..They probably don't have parts in stock for rebuild , but the parts can be ordered..
