I have a D3B CAT dozer (27y...)Right steering clutch stopped working. Took the clutch out and found disks need replacing..width of clutch pack was OUT of spec according to manual. So took it apart, put in new steel and fiber disks and put it back together. While I was there took the LEFT clutch pack out and measured the depth. Right in the middle of the spec. Fiber disks had all there teeth so DID NOT touch. However found both brake band worn badly. So replaced. After putting clutches back in I only put enough "stuff" together to do a dry run. Make sure the sprockets move, check for hydraulic leaks etc. Well, what I found is the RIGHT side clutch works great. This is the one that I totally redid. When you activate the hydraulic steering valve, the piston pushes on the yoke and with only the very slightest pull on the brake the sprocket stops dead. HOWEVER, what happens on the LEFT side is when you activate the hydraulic steering valve the piston pushes the yoke HOWEVER no matter how hard I could apply the brake the sprocket kept turning. Any IDEAS????? All help is appreciated
