I just purchased a 37-38? rd4 4g series dozer
,factory it had a pony, but was later changed to an electric start(24volt),I know th motor was changed to a 5t series( mid 40's?)from talking to friends I gather the original motor would not
accept a electric start but I am not sure as my local cat dealer can't tell me much as you have probaly noticed. but my starter is just below the old pony starter location,I can see where a torch has cut just a small portion to make clearance ,If interisted I can e-mail photos of any part you need to look at... and if you find any good web-pages send-em! I'm looking for the injector pump/housing for mine(7p5815)? .....any way, good luck

Post at www.acmoc.org The Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club. Lots of old Cat experts there, yes some of them are old too and you don't have to be a member.
