My old massey 470 loader has a leaky fuel pump. When the motor is idling it leaks from one screw on the top of the assembly and from one screw on the front side of the assembly. Do the screws in these pumps take o-rings or flat washers or something to keep 'em from leaking? I'm sure its simple but i haven't had the time, okay i'm lying, i haven't had the motivation yet to start fiddling with a damn messy fuel pump.
Oh the motor is a diesel and if it would help i can put a serial number and a picture on in the morning.

You need to be handy but not a genius if your loader has a Perkins engine with a CAV rotary pump, there are two o'ring on each of the spindles that go through the top cover, your first move should be to obtain the four o'rings and the gasket that goes between the cover and the pump, the top cover must be removed in order to remove the spindles as they fit from the inside out,to remove the cover first disconnect the controls, undo the nut that holds the lever to the throttle spindle noting how it was fitted, undo the two dome nuts that retain the cover, lift the cover up about an inch and no more, push the throttle spindle in through the cover and take the cover away, now have a good look at where the spring that I have marked green in the picture that I've posted at the link below and note which hole both ends are attached to in the spindle and goverenor plate,it is most importand that it goes back in the same place, replace the two rings on the throttle spindle, take the lever from the stop spindle and note it position, put new rings on it and put it back in the cover, use washing up liquid to lube the o'rings, clean the cover and glue the new gasket to it as it is very narrow and won't stay in place while you fit it but the glue does the trick, put the cover over the pump and push the throttle spindle through its hole and put the cover in its place making sure that the spring is connected to the same position and that the peg on the stop spindle fits into the stop control bar, tighten down the cover, connect up the controls job done.

It's leaking at the hinge bolt in reply to Case450, 05-11-2007 18:31:09
I looked at the pump closer this morning and it's leaking from the stud that the foot throttle connects to. I took off the nut and lock washer that holds it on and have seen no traces of a washer or anything of any sort. The stud itself can move up and down slightly which makes connecting the foot throttle very difficult. How do I repair this? Or do I have to remove the pump and have a shop do it?
