Any secret to putting a track back on

I had the track come half way off the front sprocket on my Oliver HG this weekend.
Anyone have any hints or advise on how to put it back on. The tractor has a hydraulic dozer blade on it with power down. Thought I might use it to lift the front end.

Thanks

I tried the backing up trick last night and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip. I figured I'd need 6 guys, 12 crowbars and 3 come-a-longs to get it back on.

Thanks again.

Sir
Yes, there was a time when my first track came off and I was lost. After having done it a few times in the worst possible places (on the side of a hill, almost in a lake, with snow on the ground and thorn trees surronding you) I'll say this: Just get her done. If you were ever a kid and your chain came off your bicycle, no different sir, just now you have a bigger toy.

If that is the only part of the track that came off, loosen the track and back up. If more of the track is hanging off, loosen the track, get some pry bars, use your blade to lift the front end off the ground, line up the track under the rollers and pry that sucker on there. good luck.

I've posted a pretty thorough "how to" narrative with picutres in the "Show and Tell" forum on the JDcrawlers site, if someone really wants to see the steps. My track wedged inside between the track frame and mainframe in muddy conditions. It was a "trial and error" deal with some helpful input with guys on these boards that have gone through this before.
