I have recently been handed down a Cat D2 5U from my Dad that is in need of a total restoration. It was running a few years ago but unfortunately has been sitting outside and was neglected. The pony motor is going to have to be rebuilt and I was wanting to set it up with an electric starter so I can at least move it around while the rebuild is going on. I need some sage wisdom on what brand and/or model starter will bolt up to the old girl. I figure that since the boys are out of school for the summer this would be an excellent project for us to do. Thanks in advance.

Old Magnet,
Blessed we are!!!! I have been going through your website, just a little due to time constraints, Lots of info there...Free info, with pics too. I see your handle on other sites as well. I don't own ANY Catapillar equipment, (although I looked at 2 D8's yesterday, does that count? they sure are big), I wish I did. BUT, Thank you for your work if assisting others! This will not go un-noticed. It truly is better to give than to recieve.

I have added your site to my Favorites, and I will look through there as time permits, Thanks again for your work...sl (so. cal)

My d2 manual give a startor group 24volt 6h1009 and just the startor 5h764 and check with your CATERPILLAR dealer.
