Does anyone have any tips for using a root rake for a JD 450C? I need to clear about 3 acres of land that has been stumped already. I have a root rake but have never used it. Will it pick up rocks too or do I need a york rake? How deep do I set the blade? How do I avoid piling up too much soil with the roots? Thanks.
Mark

It's called trial and error..I built several rakes that clamped to a dozer blade over the years..Tines were welded approx. 10" apart..The tines extended about 12" lower than the blade cutting edge..You will get the hang of it by using it..If it's getting too much dirt , either raise the blade slightly to loose the dirt or raise it completely to get another push without the dirt..Rocks will come with the brush , same goes with them..I found that pushing crossways to prior push clears the brush from dirt..When stacking brush , raise the blade while slowing from forward push..
