Hi, Ive got an 93 310d, but need to cut some roads
on mountainous land. Want to change to a track loader (track hoe?) with backhoe attachement. Any one got something to sell or trade. I was looking at a 450B(pic), but have read some disheartening stuff about them. thanks for any info.

Hello and thanks, now I see the smart-straight path is a mini-excavator-buggy thing. The crawler backhoes just look
so cool, remmember back when my
dad worked with one in the sixty's. Total awe
for a kid. They have that swiss army knife appeal. Thanks again!

I have a case 450C crawler loader and i do like the machine. Lately as I have worked it more in the last three months then in as many years, I find myself beginning to question wether or not an excavator could do the same thing and more. The crawler loader is good for bush work but awful slow for loading trucks. Can't dig a ditch or sort debris. I find myself now using my crawler loader for bulldozing and not much more. My backhoe attachment is handy but doesnt offer teh freedom of movement an excavator does. If I had teh choice for any new construction project, I would choose an excavator any day of the week. Just my two cents!!

450-B's were the cats nutz back in they're day..That day has come and gone..Track hoes have taken over 90 percent of track loaders duties..Unless that 450 has had everything rebuilt real recently , I wouldn't even consider that trade off..Don't get me wrong the 450's were Deere's bread and butter for years..Too many ground engaging parts always turning and digging in..Too many wear points..Keep your 310-D and rent a track hoe for that job.. Another thing about the 450 with hoe attachment ...When the hoe attachment is on the loader , the front idlers don't even touch the ground..Those finals are taking the weight of the entire machine combination... My 2 cents worth
