Cat933G track tension spring broke and I want to replace it. I have a replacement spring but lack the know-how. Do I have to open the track or just relieve the adjuster to swap the busted for new??

Break the track remove the the track tensioner. But be very careful check to see that the bolt that holds the spring in tension is not broken you should be able to move the spring in its holder a little bit if you cant then you need to cut the coils untill the tension is removed. Messing with this spring is VERY DANGEROUS it is under 10 to 20 tons of preload. and can kill you or someone else in a split second. I have seen them fly apart even if you drop it after you have it out. I have been working on dozers professionally for 27 years and I am scared every time I do one.If you dont know what you are doing I would let some one else do it. PLEASE BE CAREFUL Dave
