Looks like a ring,maybe a snap ring that probably holds the seal in has slid out. These were new adjusters about two years ago. I"m going to try to drive it back in but looking for any tips available so I don"t screw it up. Thanks, Gus.

There is no ring that holds the dirt seal in place..If there's some sort of ring "dingling" around , thats the metal part of the seal.. It's rusted apart or broken apart from the rubber of the seal..It's a force fit similar to a wheel seal on a trailer drum..

Thanks Roy. Makes sense, but it sure doesn't look like that. I'll clean the dirt/grease off and have a better look. That means the whole thing needs to be pulled apart. Both sides were replaced by AIS and always leak down faster than I think they should. I want to upgrade machines but I got too much money into this now to justify it.
