Before running the 20 miles out to the tractor, check the serial number site of this web site. In there should be information on where to find the serial number on the trator so as not to confuse it with other numbers. If this site dosn't have, check the other links-it is out there. I would be clearer but it has been at least four years since the last time that I had to look up anything.

The tracks on my 1979 TD7E are adjusted by hydraulic pumped grease from your grease gun. There is a dust cap that has two bolts that hold it down, it is located on top of the piston that moves out to stretch the track, most of the time covered with dirt. Take the cover off, it is a rectangular box, and you will find a grease fitting. Do not tighten the tracks too much. In the owners manual it shows how to adjust tension.

Thanks to all for the info. I don't have the serial number on had so I will have to take another drive out there. It's about twenty miles away. I haven't found the owner yet either. There's no activiy near the field where it's setting.

Anything orchard is rare. In most cases when the farmer removed any of the track skirting, belly pan or motor tin coverings, they never went back on. They were mainly stored slapped up aginst some barn wall on the outside exposed to all weather. With time they fell over flat on the ground and the rust is history. Even most of the orchard farmers took the tin of and lost track of it. Run the serial number and you will know what tractor you have. It's easy.

I found some photos of a T9 and saw that the exaust stack is on the oposite side from this one (this one is on the left).

What is the glass jar that is threaded into the air intake?

The glass jar is a precleaner that was used on some models. It was used on some wheel tractors too.

Looks like a T-6 to me has same dash and air cleaner as my 1955 TD-6 not the same as my 1950 TD-6

I have seen some T-6's with the tracks covered for use in orchards. I don't know about t-9's. The shields would keep the tracts or crawler from catching on the tree limbs. Looks like a neat machine. I hope you can get it because it looks like a good project. You didn't mention if it ran.

I would say its a T6. Could be a T9, hard
to tell size from a photo. It looks nice with
all the extra metal. No blade kinda sucks
but you can probably come up with one. There looks to be a tag on the dash...?
