A 1986 JCB would be a 3CX model and should have hydrauluic inboard brakes, but if its a 3C MKII it is built on a Leyland (Nuffield) and have a 3.8 Leyland engine, the brakes are mechanical,to adjust them take the wheels off the ground, out of gear, parking break off,go underneath with a 3/4" deep socket, look up just in front of the back axle and you will see the brake housing, between the two plates of the linkage you will see a selflocking nut, thats the adjusting nut, tighten it up clockwise till the wheels just bind then back off two turns,do the other side and try to get the pedals as even as you can,the brakes on them 3Cs were never what one would call good but were just about able to hold the weight.

Many thanks for that AJK. I'll have a go at that later today and see how it goes. Thanks again.
