Hello, I have a JD 350 crawler dozer and I am having trouble adjusting tracks. When grease is pumped in it is coming out of hole (bypass) on the bottom of the cylinder. Do I need to rebuild cylinder? or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for any help!

the button fitting on the top is for tightening the tracks. To release pressure on the track tightener, there is, on the bottom below the button fitting, a plug. Take this plug out & grease squirts out, relasing pressure. Also squirting out is a ball bearing that no one sees or realizes is there unless you know. When you put the plug back in with no ball bearing, grease comes out the hole.

Is the bolt and jamnut tight on top of the cylinder ?? if so the ball bearing might be missing..The bolt pushes down on a ball bearing and closes off the grease release port thats on the bottom of the cylinder...

Thanks for the reply. The adjusting screw, jam nut and ball are all in place. Adjusting nut is screwed in all the way and the jam nut set. Could the ball not be seating in correct position?

Might have been overtightened and squashed the seat out...If so , you might need to replace the cylinder casting...Unless someone you know can remachine the seat area...
