Hope someone out there in YTMAG land with experience working on these older Case backhoes will help; I"m getting no reponse from the forward/Rev Shuttle Shift after changing the shuttle shift tranny fluid on this 1967 Case 680 CK with the 267 engine. Was working fine before fluid change - although a bit sluggish. Now that the new Case TCH fluid has been put in, there"s no response from Shuttle shift regardless of gear. What Changed: Fluid replaced while hot. New Fluid - Case TCH - 4 quarts
Torque Converter fluid was Not drained
Ran Great and stronger than before in Forw/Rev immediately after refill (while overfilled) and while engine was Hot. Came out next day and would not budge for 30 minutes -then very sluggish. Over-Filled shuttle pan the first round - by an extra 1/2 gallon or so! Fluid level correct now according to Dipstick - checked in 4th gear while running per manual
I was able to get it to sluggishly move yesterday after engine warmed up for about 20 minutes - (warmed up the Fluid?) old fluid was contaminated and milky - viscosoty seemed low, new TCH fluid thicker
Pressure on gauge is zero now, but was near zero prior to change.
I have a couple of theories here: The shuttle shift did begin to engage after engine had been running for at least 20 mnutes and everything got nice and warm. I heard the engine start to strain a bit, felt a slight movement, hit the accelerator and it started to creep a bitForw and Rev worked yesterday. I am thinking the fluid may be too viscous, or the pump too weak to handle it? Possible did some damage by over filling and running it back and forth afterward. I dunnno, I hope some folks might be willing or able to offer advice and help me out here. I am going to try and replace TCH with ATF Type F tomorrow to see if that helps. Thanks ! John

Could really use a service manual for this Hoe as well, if anyone knows where one might be gotten? (for less than the $150 on ebay)
