Recently removed a 6way blade and mounted a 4n1 bucket on a td340. But, the bucket doesn"t lift very fast and when you pull the lever back, the hydraulic system whines real loud. I think it may have air in it, but I bled the lines I thought adequately. Anyone with suggestions or tips, let me know. I can not find a bleeder screw. Maybe, I"m doing it in the wrong sequence?? Thanks for any help. No issues before with the 6way.

FIXED!! Replaced hydraulic filter & oil, along with new high pressure hose. Runs nice & quiet now. Thanks to all for your help!!

When you say "main line" do you mean main suction line or main pressure line? The suction line goes to the tank and is usually bigger. The pressure line goes to the valve block and is high-pressure hose.

This was the pressure line going to the valve block that appeared to have the oil or water on the outside of it and when you pulled the lever to lift, all the water and oil would get sucked in. I'm getting a new hose today. I guess it sucked it in because the pump was starving for oil, maybe. I drained the oil and it appeared the filter and screen needed cleaned/replaced. So, I'm getting a new filter today as well. I should know something late tonight. Thanks for all the assistance.

I posted this reply over on the redpower site too. My T340 had the same problem, I took apart the pump, rebuilt the controls, took apart the relief valve, etc., etc. to no avail. Finially was directed to change the filter, even though I had done that a while before the problem started. Somehow the filter had come loose while I was using the tractor to move a log. It was sucking air through the intake. I replaced the filter and the problem went away. I've still got water in my lines, but the hydraulics work fine now.

Any pin holes in the suction line will cause air to be drawn in.
Use an oil can to squirt oil on suspect spots while someone else holds the control valve on.You will be able to see the oil
being drawn in.Check the pump itself too.Just a thought.

I actually had gotten the main pressure hose wet that snakes across from the left side of engine and over to the right up to the valve controls, and when I pulled the lever back to lift the bucket, it appeared that the water got "sucked in". But when I let off the valve the little drops would reappear in the same spot. Does that mean my main line may need replacing, or is it the result of the main line not getting enough oil so there is a huge vacuum created in the line?? Thoughts??

i found my T340 in a junkyard, after full restoration, it still took a couple years to get all the crud out of the hydro system, you may have had contaminates in the loader. pull the filter cover and look for snotty stuff on the screen. blow out with air for a quick fix. if water is the problem, buy cheap oil, and flush about every 20 hours of use or untill oil clears up. dont toss old oil, they will separate and you can pump clean oil off for next change. i had to change oil at least 10 times, but mine was the worst id ever seen.

thought of another crazy possibility. when i had the cylinders rebuilt, the shop actually left a grease rag in one of them! i thought it was a valve untill i pulled a hose and saw the end of the rag sticking out.

the pump is starving for oil. look for a collapsed suction line going to the pump.

did the relief valve get changed? Your oil may be going over a relief valve that could be in the valve body. The system will squeal and the functions will be slow if that is the case. a relief valve looks like a giant spark plug usually with a jam nut and a hex head or allen srew on top. Good luck

I have the same machine. When it whines for me or action is sluggish, it's either that the fluid level is low, or (usually) that the hydraulic filter or screen is getting clogged. When I change out the filter and clean any gunk off the screen, the whine goes away as the flow of fluid is sufficient for the pump.

OK, I know fluid is OK, so I'll check filter and screen. Stay tuned.

Second hand presumably? If it is not oil level perhaps a previous owner was using it on something with higher hydraulic pressure/flow and put a restrictor in a line to slow it down?

Just wondering, did you check the fluid level after you did the swap? We have a 340U wheeled tractor and the hydraulic system will whine when the fluid level is getting low, we just top it off and shes back to normal.
Just a thought..... .....JJ

Ya, fluid is fine. Maybe I need to check all the lines and make sure they are all clear with no obstructions??? Don"t know why there would be any??
