Hi
I have a JD350C dozer with a bad reverser. We checked preasure and it is only at 45psi, (it used to be around 150) it's just enough to get it to move but not enough to work it. We changed the filter and oil, checked the regulating valves, they show wear but are not sticking. Any ideas?
Anybody work on JD350's in Washington State?

On our 350 the reverser was slow, and it sliped. the pump was fine but all the seals in the reverser were getting weak, and there are a bunch, it is also a pain to get the reverser out, and even more so if it is a crawler loader.

First make sure that your clutch pedal is coming all the way up.
Roy helped me on this one once.
Next, There is a rubber plug on the bellhousing. Remove the rubber plug and there is a 1/2" nut that you use to adjust the presure. If I remember right counter clock wise increases the presure.
Roy helped me here too.
You can do a search with my handle "uncle" and find Roy's post on the procedure.

No such thing on any 350. Think you're referring to to 450 with a HL-R trans.

I found your posts,thanks.

Same 45-60 psi in forward or reverse, it does rise when coming from neutral as it should.

I checked the clutch pedal, it's at the end of the stop.

I next checked the shim under the preasure adjuster, tried shiming it, no change, checked the preasure relief and bypass, thinking maybe it was stuck, no change. They did show wear. I also blew out of all of the ports, no luck.

I dont know what rubber plug you are talking about but I will climb around and see if I can find it.

Pat

Re: No plug - stop looking in reply to Pat Dwyer, 07-09-2007 21:34:38
There is no rubber plug, stop looking for it.

350C reverser uses a gear-pump that powers the reverser clutches and also the steering clutches. It needs at least 130 PSI or the steering clutches will slip - long before the reverser clutches do.

You'd better figure out first - if you've actually got a reverser problem - or - your losing your oil from the reverser pump at the steering clutch packs.

Pull the floorboards and the plug is on the left front just about the distance you would guess the throwout bearing to be. When you look into the hole you will see a stud and a nut looking up at you.
