I have recently aquired a IH TD 340A s/n 8898 with a Drott 4way attached.
I believe that this makes it vintage 1965. It"s been setting for over a decade and has 1584 hours on the dash meter. Any suggestions on approach to bringing this baby back to life. It was running when it was put up. Whole but rough around the edges. Any advise would be appreciated.
thanks- Barry

I have a TD 340A and it is a great machine. If the motor isn't stuck and diesels usually don't stick, the big issue will be the fuel system.
Diesel gels and forms gums as it ages. The whole system will be full of bad fuel. You could flush the tank and lines and try starting, but the injectors and the pump could well be fouled out. It sure wouldn't hurt to try flushing the system before you do a start up.

I have essentially the same machine.I would begin by getting all the documentation that can be found, including the parts manual, the operators manual, and the manuals for each of the systems (engine, hydraulics, chassis, etc.). Copies of original IH manuals are definitely best. I would make sure the hydraulic filter and screen (lower right, opposite pump) are OK so the pump gets enough clean fluid right from the start.
