Case 580D hydraulic cylinder question

I've got a 580D backhoe that was leaking from every cylinder on the backhoe. I've disassembled the entire backhoe to replace lots of the bushings and rebuild the cylinders. I've got everything rebuild and ready to put it together. My question is: should I prime any of the cylinders with a little hydraulic fluid? Every cylinder is pretty much dry except for coating the piston and internal bore of the cylinder when I put it back together. Will the air work itself out without damaging any of the piston seals, gland seals, etc? I replaced the steering cylinders with new ones, and the instructions with those said to prime the cylinders with hydraulic fluid before installation to avoid damage, and that got me thinking about the backhoe cylinders. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

The hydraulic cylinders on your Case do not require bleeding, put the clyinders on,connect up the hoses, make sure that the hydraulic tank is filled up to the level, operate each cylinder in and out several times, keep an eye on the oil level as it will fall as each cylinder is filled and top up as required.

Thanks for the help AJ. I know it's probably a "no-brainer" question, but wanted to make sure. The capacity of the hydraulic system is listed at 12.5 gallons with filter change. But I started thinking, if you drained the hydraulic fluid out of the reservoir, you probably wouldn't drain all the fluid out of the system. I imagine fluid would remain in all the cylinders and closed circuits from control valve to cylinder, right? (After disassembling these cylinders in my garage, I realized that they can hold quite a bit of fluid!) Am I right in thinking I will need more than 12.5 gallons? Think 15 gallons will be enough? Just want to make sure I have enough to finish the job before I get started.

I've got 580D stabilizer cylinders apart now, upwards of 1/2 gal each when we drained them. There's a whole lot of fluid in the total of the hoe cylinders.

You're correct about fluid normally remaining in the cylinders. As 15 gals is 3 buckets, I'd have a fourth on hand. You're gonna need it eventually anyhow.
