i have a 955k cat and the water pressure climbs to the top of the gauge after 15-30 mins. of use . the thermostat seems to be working fine as the radiator gets warm. any help would be greatly appreciated. have only had the machine for about 2 weeks and am trying to learn about it. thanks

Just food for thought. Thirty years ago cat told dad to run his at an idle for 10-15 minutes to let the temperature in the engine and water cool down and even out before shuting down never cracked a head since. It is especially important on turbocharged engines to prevent the seals on the turbo shaft from burning. I let my truck run when getting fuel for that reason.

Cat did away with water pressure quage 35 or more years ago. they were only good if you had the proper temp guage. unless it is blowing off collant thru the overflow dont worry about it.. You can remove the 1/8 pipe plug fome the top tank of the radiator, install a pressure guage,it should be around 15 lbs when at normal operating temp.

Fill radiator to neck and check for bubbles while running. Candidate source of bubbles are cracked head, bad head gasket, low liner or pin hole in pre-com chamber. The D330 engine is pretty famous for cracked heads.

Yup try cap and thermostats (2) and that water is circulating properly ,
Not to scare you but i went through all this with a 1967 D7e but i found both heads were cracked but still she only pressurized when she got hot .
Cracked heads are common on old cat's.

It could be a bad radiator cap. If the cap was not venting properly when the fluid heats up it will build up pressure.
