My HD-5G's GM 2-71 is acting like it's flooding itself and when it recovers, it is spitting flames out the stack. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening? Timing? Governor?
Thanks.

I found the fan belt on the HD-5G had loosened and the water pump obviously wasn't moving enough water. Also determined that the temperature gauge is faulty. Running fine now.

With fuel off, does it spin thru with about the same compression on both cylinders, or does it pick up on one and slow on the other. thinking about a stuck exhaust valve. What is the exhaust color, black with fire, white with fire,. I am leaning towards one cylidiner dead and the raw fuel from it igniting in the stack as it blown out of the exhaust valve by the blower on downstroke. I had a valve break once and it was pushed back into the seat side ways and stayed there. Limped back on one jug, a lot of wihite smoke but no fire. Was it running perfect before and happen during operation? bob
