I just bought an early jd450C, I believe it is a 1975 model. On the left side, the sprocket is rubbing on the center of the rear roller. It is like the complete undercarriaage frame is to far back toward the sprocket. The previous owner had recently replaced the tracks, (rails & pads), and the sprockets. Rollers need to be replaced.
Also the sprocket is tracking off center to the rear roller, like the uc frame is positioned to far out on the round shaft that goes across the dozer frame that both left and right uc frames mount on. Thanks for any ideas as to what could be wrong.

Grab your spud bar and pry the sprocket rearward to see if the final drive bearings are shot..Another thing to look for are there any front crossbar to trackframe bolts broken or missing?? How about the rear crossbar clamp assembly bolts missing or broken??

Roy Whats the saying-I couldn"t see the forrest for the trees. I do beleive you nailed it. I didn"t get the sprocket to move much because of track tension, but now looking carefully,I can see the sprocket angles in putting it off center. Thanks much for the quick response.
