What am I supposed to use for hydraulic fluid?

1) Person I bought it from says "standard hyrdraulic fluid" -- I'm not sure what "standard" is. OR 2) The manual says to use 10 engine oil.

I'm not a track loader expert, so I don't know-

thanks, Mike N.

Can I mix them? In otherwords, do I need to identify what is already in the system and continue with the same thing.

Or can I top off with any of those (i.e 30 wt oil or 10wt oil (thats' what book says to use) or the "real" hydraulic fluid a couple of you reocommended).

thanks again, mike n

I've got a TD9 drott loader and have been running both 30W motor oil and 10-30W motor oil for years now. Both work fine, although in the future I'll probably stick with 10-30W because it's not as thick when it's cold out (making the hyd system function a little more smoothly).

Now you have 3 opinons .. But the BOOK is right in it,s day IH wanted streight 30 wt motor oil ..
Not hyd oil as it is about 10 wt.. Older unit will perform better and leak less on the 30 wt.
HY-Tran was developed for transmission/Hydraulic set ups much latter than this tractor.. Don,t want to start a agrument ..Just fact..
