OK...here goes. Was using my backhoe, knowing that the fuel gauge was reading near empty when sure enough it sputtered, puked, and then stopped. OH, boy!!! First time I ever ran out of fuel. So, filled the tank, changed both fuel filters, filling both with diesel. Took a chance and turned the engine. WELL, started right up, pushed it to full throttle for 3-4 minutes. Ran just fine. Parked it, done for the day.

Next day go to start it.....starts right up, drive it to where I need it, start using the backhoe and sputters, puked and stops. Well, we know that tank is full, filters are new etc.

Followed the manual to "bleed air out of fuel system". Notices that I CANNOT get fuel from the fuel pump with the hand primer up to the intake manifold of the filters. So took that line off and blew some air thru it and was clear. That's where I'm stuck. No matter what I do with the hand primer no fuel flows to the manifold.

ALSO, did check the fuel supply line to the pump by completely taking it off and fuel just "gushes" thru that line so feel comfortable that fuel is getting to the pump.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Someone had that problem before and I think it was the filter rubber seal that had come out of place and was blocking the fuel exit, some machines that use banjo bolt type unions often have a small filter inside the bolt so its worth checking the bolts in case one got used on yours and is blocked, take off the primary filter, its the biggist of the two, prime the lift pump, you should have a flow of fuel from where that filter fits, fill it and put it back on.take off the secondery one and prime again, there should be fuel there, fill it and put it back, open the bleed screw on the banjo bolt, prime till clear fuel comes through, there should be two bleed screws on the injector pump, they ride piggyback on top of another two bolts, one above the other, they are small 5/16AF/8MM, open them, prime again till clear fuel comes from the bottom one, close it and then the top one,now loosen all four injector pipes a couple of turns on the back of the pump, spin the engine over with the throttle on full till the unions start spitting fuel, tighten up the pipes and the engine should start.Good luck

CHECK your Motor oil! If it is making oil, the fuel pump is bad.
