whats the best grease to use on the boom? what you had the best luck with?

as long as you get a grease with moly in it . Dont buy the cheap stuff that you can wash off with water.

Since you ask specifically about a CAT I'll tell you like this. We've got a customer that runns several pieces of CAT equipment and has done so for over 40 years. All of his lubricants come from Lubrication Engineers. His thoughts on their stuff is that he can buy a worn out machine, start using LE on it and it never gets any worse. For the newer equipment he uses their stuff and it doesn't wear out. Another customer uses their grease in an old Northwest 9570 dragline used in production stripping overburden at a sand pit. Once they started using LE they were able to double the greasing intervals (cut grease usage in half) and were talking about stretching the intervals even further because the grease worked and stayed where it was put. I've been slammed several times on here for talking up the LE products but I'm in the field working on heavy equipment every day and I know what I've seen and what works.
