Any help with a 1977 Case 450 highlift that continues to burn up the key switch? I get a few months out of the switch (limited use) and the machine will not turnover. I replace the switch and everything works fine for a few months. The amp meter doesnt read 60+ sometimes if you run the machine with the lights on. Is the volt regulator causing this? Any help would be appricated.

It sure sounds like its overcharging if its hitting 60amps. Is the top of battery warm after running it a while with lights on. If so thats a sign of overcharging. A short somewhere can burn up the ignition switch too. If you have the manual Id trace all the wires that go to the ignition switch and test for shorts. Id also make sure that the regulator is in spec (will also be listing in service manual). It could even be a short in the stator that test is also in the service manual (least our machines list it).

Lastly make sure the switch is rated for the amps going through it.
