While were on the subject. What way for direction of rotation is the track pads and chain to go on ? or doesn't it matter ? I have a real small Kubota track hoe with steel tracks and wonder if they are on the right way ?

place a bloce under the grouser bar on the pad with the bushing
this is going to end up uder the Idler/ backe the tractor all the way to the other end, run a long bar thru the open links only go thru the inside link about 1/2 inch
have soe one slowly move the machine fordward so that the bar hangs in the sprocket, let the sprocket pick up the track. Once you have it on top you can either carry the track across the top rollers as the machine moves fwd or hok a chain t it and to the bucked and by keeping tension on the chain assist the track over the I dler
according t the type master link, eith drive a pin thru or bolt the link togeather. EMil me and I can probably scan this t you directly from a service manual

If you have to ask you can't. it takes specalized tools, a track press. either take your tractor to an undercarrage shop or remove the chains and take them.

I have the ability to construct a press, I just need to know the measurements and tolerances for the bushings
