I have a 1981 F350 flatbed and gooseneck trailer that I use to pull my JD450C around the farm. I would like to get trailer brakes operating so I can pull on the road. The fella a got the trailer from says the brakes are not repairable but I see a brake line going to each hub. I suppose I will have to get someone to look at it. Is it practical to add trailer brakes to the '81 F350? I'm wondering if I just need a newer truck and trailer. Just looking for your thoughts.
Thanks,
RussT

That truck isn't going to need anything different than a newer truck would also need. Your trailer may be the problem area ?

I have ran an 81 F350 with an electric brake controller. Actually your old truck gives you more options as without antilock brakes you can use a controller that hooks into a tee off the master cyl. or a full electronic model like for newer trucks. Or you can always go to vacume/hyd. brakes for alot more dollars ?
