Narrow Track TD6

Can anyone tell me the relative rarity of a narrow track TD6. The tracks are 12 inches wide, while most other TD6's are 16 inches wide. The tractor is in California, is in good shape, likely a runner, good pins, bushings and sprockets. It is painted yellow with dealer stickers on the back.

Can anyone tell me more about this tractor - even including potential value???

Thanks much in advance,

Joel

I have 2 Bullgear pinions to suit Narrow TD6.
Not too easy to find now.

I have a narrow tread TD6 and indications are that they aren't particularly rare or collectible but that is very subjective. They seem to be found in greater numbers than the wide tracks in certain parts of the country, Oregon logging areas, for example. The real crawler experts hang out on the construction forum at Redpower.com Oh, if you decide not to get it, let me know, mine needs company :-)

Thanks Tom-

Any idea on a decent price for one of these. I'm a "green - meaning JD, not rookie" guy and don't know the values of "red" stuff too much.

Thanks in advance,

Joel

No problem with the JD Joel, I love IH crawlers and tractors but my primary working tractor is a newer JD with a loader. As far as the prices go, here in Arizona a complete but non-runner early model TD6 went for $2,000. There is also a nice restored one on Ebay now owned by one of the Redpower gang and it should bring more. There were several versions of the TD6 & TD9 during their production run, so serial number and year make a big difference (they had a 6 cyl version later, for instance). Don't forget to check out the cast of characters over at Redpower, construction equipment forum.
